Maywood, NJ - The Blue Chip Chorus had its 2010 "NEW DECADE" Kick-off Party at the Maywood American Legion 135 East Passaic Street on Wednesday, January 6 at 7:30PM.
Members invited their friends, relatives and neighbors that love to sing and may be interested in membership. The night began with great casual food and drink, but it didn't take long for the singing to break out.
Almost spontaneously, "Blue Chippers" started forming quartets with three members and one guest. How surprised the guests seemed when in only a few minutes their new singing buddies taught them a song or even just a "tag" (the often spectacular last line to a great barbershop- harmony song).
The evening went on to conduct the traditional Quartet Singing Contest. Members of the 30-man a capella troupe form ad hoc quartets, pick a song at random, practice it just one time, then see how well they can pull it off. But this fun contest was just a little different from the serious competition events in which the chorus competes: this time the guests were the judges! No prize money, trophies or analytical scoring, just a lot of fun, and a lot of music.
Men of all ages and abilities who are interested in being part of the Blue Chip Chorus should visit their web site (bluechipchorus.com) or call their Hot-Line at (201) 391-8366.
The OPEN AUDITION PERIOD is coming up soon, so this is your chance! CALL OR E-MAIL TODAY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VISIT ONE OF OUR REHEARSAL SESSIONS.
