Blue Chip Chorus | Bergen County, NJ
The Blue Chip Chorus is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) in America. An organization that “preserves and extends the reach of a uniquely American close harmony musical art form whose roots lie in African-American improvisation and European harmony traditions.”
Of the nearly 700 chapters in the BHS, our Teaneck chapter is the oldest in the state of New Jersey, third oldest in the Mid-Atlantic district and 52nd oldest in the nation. In June 2022 we celebrated our 77th anniversary.
We meet on Wednesday evenings at the Rodda Community Center in Teaneck, NJ.
About Us
There is a joy and transformation that comes from four voices singing together. We embrace the mysterious chemistry of singing together. We want to share it, because we think it is too wonderful for us to keep it to ourselves.
Barbershop is a uniquely American musical art form. The love of that music is global.
Although BCC sings traditional barbershop songs, we sing every genre. This includes patriotic, Broadway, pop, oldies, and country.
Our outreach is working with others to promote the power of singing to build a better society. Because music is often the last link to memories for individuals with dementia, we sing for them. We routinely sing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, VAs, and senior clubs. We also entertain at town street fairs, BBQs, special parties, and events that want our unique way of entertaining.
We recently sang both the American and Canadian National Anthems at a baseball game at Rockland Boulder Stadium.

Membership
Ahh that sound – barbershop harmony; pure and sweet, bright and brassy, mellow and heartfelt. It’s all that. Most importantly, it’s easy, it’s fun, and you can do it too!
Whether you want to become a member, take a “test drive” by singing with us as a guest, or only observe as part of an audience, you are welcome to join us at one of our rehearsals.
The chorus is always looking for men to join our organization. You don’t need to be a trained musician, read music, or have performance experience to sing barbershop. If you can carry a tune, you can learn traditional and contemporary songs in the barbershop style.
Rehearsals are Wednesday nights starting at 7:15 sharp at the Rodda Center, 250 Colonial Court in Teaneck.
Come… You’ll have a fun evening!!!!
“Barbershop Life”
We participate in many Memorial Day and 4th of July parades. You can see us riding along in our own trailer, patriotically decorated for the occasion. We also honor our VFW friends with a very moving program for 9-11.
Our Christmas performances are special. We entertain for holiday parties, Christmas tree lightings, and visits with Santa to the delight of children and adults.
Everything from singing Valentines to our great annual shows, we are a group of men – who love to sing!
Coming from all walks of life, ages, and ethnic- backgrounds, we are as diverse as the music we sing. The friendships we have formed make us as close as some families.
